Incredible, raw, doubly-terminated, transparent with black carbon inclusions Herkimer “Diamond” pendant with silver coloured bell cap and jump ring from Herkimer County, New York, U.S.A. Herkimer “Diamonds” are doubly-terminated Quartz crystals which are primarily found in and around Herkimer, New York, U.S.A. They formed in “vugs” in bedrock and are found either loose as single crystals or clusters or in matrix, which means in the rock. In each Herkimer “Diamond”, there is a small amount of carbon, whether visible or not, which gives them their brilliant, diamond-like luster. Herkimer “Diamonds” derived their name from their doubly-terminated shapes and remarkable facets which were created by nature rather than man.
