Amethyst Cluster

Description

Fascinating, light to dark purple Amethyst cluster with two phantoms and inclusions, which are likely Goethite and Hematite, from Thunder Bay, Ontario.

What distinguishes our Thunder Bay Amethyst, from Amethyst found elsewhere, is the colour. The Thunder Bay area has a very high iron content, so most of the Amethyst specimens have a Hematite coating. This coating changes the colour of the Amethyst, ranging anywhere from red to almost black.
